Yin & Meridians 20hr TTC
Live Online March 2025
Different ancient traditions have talked about an energy system within the body since the earliest of times. Indian Yogis called it Prana, while Chinese Daoists called it Qi or Chi. Chi is usually translated as ‘vital life force’ or ‘life energy’, this energy is the force present in all life and which binds together all things in the universe.
â
Just as Prana moves through energy channels called Nadis in the Indian Yogi tradition, in the Chinese tradition this Qi or Chi moves through a network of energy pathways called ‘Jing-luo’ that interconnects and encapsulates all tissues and cells. Jing, meaning ‘to go through’ and Luo meaning ‘that which connects’. The word is translated as ‘channels’ and commonly known as ‘Meridians’.
â
The Daoist tradition, upon which Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is based, distinguishes 12 main meridians, 8 minor meridians and many collateral ones. TCM acupuncture points can be mapped out on this meridian system.
â
While in yoga the chakras are considered as the main energetic points, the Daoist model considers our internal organs as being the main focus points of energy storage and distribution.
Most major meridians are named after the internal organs they influence and are connected with: an organ’s Qi moves through that organ’s meridian.
â
In this course you will learn the energetic aspects of Yin Yoga. You will gain knowledge about the Chinese meridian system and its effect on us and how we access this during the yin yoga classes. Yin Yoga & Chakras 20hr TTC
Live Online October 2025
Chakra means wheel in Sanskrit and circle of light in Hindi. The chakras are like spinning wheels that each control various energetic functions in our bodies. In this course you will gain a deeper understanding of how through yin yoga we can help to balance the chakras to create better health.
Simply explained, the chakras are energy centers in the body and they act as gateways between the inner and outer worlds. They hold body, mind and soul together and also regulate, supply and store our life force (prana) in the body. According to yogic philosophy, there are 72,000 nadis (energy channels) in the body, and we mainly reference three of them; sushuma, ida and pingala. Where the ida nadi and pingala nadi cross each other around the sushumna nadi (from the sacrum along the spine) an energy center arises, a so-called chakra.
There are seven main chakras that follow the spine and are connected to the sushumna nadi. Five of them are located in the spine. The lowest one in the pelvis and the last one at the crown just above the head
In Sanskrit, the seven different chakras are called: Muladhara, Svadishthana, Manipura, Anahata, Vishuddhi, Ajna and Sahasrara chakra.
The different chakras represent different functions in our bodies, minds and also different levels of consciousness. They also correlate to the different glands in the body.
Through guidance into each chakra, we can get in touch with what the different chakras stand for, start to open and see what we need to balance in ourselves and in life.
â
In this course you will get an insight into the chakras' meaning and signs of their balances or imbalances, as well as how you can create different yin yoga sessions with a focus on the chakras.
